PNS Canola Opbrengskompetisie
PRF Canola Yield Competition

CLOSED

Inleiding

Borge of tegniese advisering

Introduction

The PRF has decided to once again launch its annual canola yield competition in 2020, based on the format of the 2019 canola yield competition. The adverse climatic conditions the Southern Cape had to face during 2019 unfortunately forced the organisers to call off the competition in that region due to a lack of entries, and we trust that all will be keen to take part in the competition in 2020.

The Swartland region was well represented in the 2019 competition, and despite challenging weather conditions, any number of producers achieved farm average yields of 2 tons per hectare. The highest average yield obtained was 2,52 tons per hectare.

Cash prizes and winning categories

The PRF Canola Yield Competition aims to encourage producers to strive for increased grain yields. To this end, a cash prize will be awarded during 2020 to the producer who achieves the highest average yield per hectare on a:

R15 000
FARM OR FARMING UNIT WHICH EXCEEDS 150HA
R10 000
FARM OR FARMING UNIT OF LESS THAN 150HA

One winner will be identified in the Swartland and one will be identified in the Southern Cape. Recognised cultivars of canola (Brassica napus) must be produced. Only canola produced under dryland conditions will qualify for entry into the competition. The planting per entry should not be less than 30 hectares.

Sponsors or technical expertise

The competition also offers opportunities for the canola industry to market their products, by sponsoring the seed, fertiliser etcetera used by specific participants or by offering their technical expertise to them.

Important dates

ENTRIES HAVE CLOSED ON 31 AUGUST 2020.

ONLY 10 ENTRIES
5x FOR PLANTINGS OF LESS THAN 150HA AND
5x FOR PLANTINGS OF MORE THAN 150HA
